Where Do I Come From? An intro to Jewish History with Rabbi Jeremy Gordon

Jewish culture By Rabbi Jeremy Gordon 04th Feb 2022

Rabbi Jeremy Gordon teaches an intro to Jewish history. This week he looks at the Biblical period, asking what – or perhaps better ‘from when’ – can we know about our earliest history. He looks at an Egyptian stele, Assyrian murals and trying to understand the challenges of treating the Torah as a historical record. The implications of our attitude towards our history are huge and should impact on every way in which we understand ourselves as Jews today. More than that, by gaining an insight into our place as descendants in a multi-millennia narrative we can gain extraordinary insights into how we can be ancestors in our own right.
