Masorti Judaism is recruiting 

1 Co-Chair and 2 Trustees 

For a three-year term of office beginning September 2022 


The successful candidate will be committed to the values of Masorti Judaism and have proven leadership ability, experience of charity governance, knowledge of the Jewish community and skills in at least one of the following areas: charity, commercial or employment law; human resources; fundraising; marketing and communications; strategy and business; youth work and education. 

Summary of responsibilities 

  • Relationship building, leadership development and succession planning 
  • Ensuring good governance and chairing the Board  
  • Representing Masorti Judaism to our communities and externally 
  • Overseeing strategic planning and managing the Chief Executive 
  • Supporting the movement’s fundraising strategy 
  • All other responsibilities of a trustee – see below 


We’re looking for new trustees to support Masorti Judaism’s work for the next three years. If you’re committed to the values of Masorti Judaism we would love you to apply. We are particularly looking for people with fundraising, financial and legal skills to fill current gaps on the Board 

Summary of responsibilities: 

  • Attending 8 Board meetings per year and any relevant committee meetings 
  • Taking on a specific portfolio or area of responsibility as agreed with the Co-Chairs 
  • Ensuring good governance, legal compliance, and effective performance by putting important issues on the agenda for Board meetings, taking professional advice, asking questions, supporting the staff team and holding them to account 
  • Using your professional skills to support the organisation’s work
