A new year, a new team

Masorti Judaism’s new staff members

By Matt Plen

Left to right: Yael, Jon, Susan

Yael Shotts joins us Operations Director. Yael has worked professionally within the Jewish community for ten years, first at Liberal Judaism and most recently as the manager of Radlett Reform Synagogue. Taking over from our outgoing Operations Director, Michelle Janes, Yael will be a member of our senior leadership team and will be responsible for planning and delivering Masorti Judaism’s year-round programme of events, including conferences, study days, networking events, fundraisers and the annual dinner.  Her remit also includes office management, policies and compliance, and HR.  Yael lives in Borehamwood with her husband and two children and is looking forward to joining the team.  Contact details: yael@masorti.org.uk (from 20th November).

Jon Pam is joining our senior leadership team as Community Development Director. He has a varied professional background in journalism, youth work and charity management and, more recently, in public health, leadership development and community engagement within the NHS. He has been actively involved in Limmud since 2010 and was one of the founders of Limmud in the Woods.  In this exciting new role, Jon will be designing and delivering services to support our communities and will be the first port of call for Masorti community leaders who need help and advice.  He will also be running our membership growth toolkit and listening campaign initiative, and exploring possibilities for seeding new Masorti communities.  Contact details: jonathan@masorti.org.uk

Susan Reuben joins us as part-time Communications Manager. A writer and editor, she is a regular columnist for the Jewish Chronicle and created the first edition of the new Masorti magazine, Etz Hadar. Susan will be working on our regular print and online publications (Reflections and a weekly e-letter), social media and digital marketing campaigns, and publicity for Masorti Judaism and local community events.  Susan is a longstanding member of New North London Synagogue.  Contact details: susan@masorti.org.uk.
